[Kim Hyun Joong] Priceless Expressions

I'm still not over 'Boys Over Flower' episodes 15 and 16. There are quite a number of scenes of Kim Hyun Joong that i like in this episode which I'd like to share them here. Thanks so much to Mariposa of KHJ thread @ soompi for doing me a favor. She cut these scenes for me to share in this blog.

Toilet Surprise

This scene is hilarious. I really really like the expression that KHJ showed here when he saw Jan Di half awake seated in the toilet bowl. Priceless! He told Jan Di, "You forgot to lock the door." He then leaves.

Hush, Min.

After the toilet scene, Ji Hoo went to Jan Di's room to ask her to come out and forget about the incident. Min is also with him laughing when he learned of what happened. But Jan Di was so embrassed that she could not bring herself to see Ji Hoo.

After the Jan Di - Jun Pyo - Madam Kang incident at the hotel. Jun Pyo, sent a text message to Ji Hoo to help Jan Di. Jan Di instead of going home went to the clinic. Ji Hoo called to know where she is. Jan Di lied by telling she's at home but Ji Hoo was able to locate her and asked her whether the clinic is already her home.

Jan Di then mops the floor and without words Ji Hoo steps in front of her making her stop mopping. She changes her direction, Ji Hoo stood in her path again to stop. She then turns away, he grabbed the mop handle and she loses her defenses. She started to cry. He hugged her. No words uttered in this scene but the impact is so powerful.

Hyun Joong Sings "Because I'm Stupid" Live in the Restroom

Kim Hyung Joong is really hilarious. He makes small things really cute. here are other details of the radio interview of Hyun Joong the other day.

according to quynhn post at soompi, Hyun Joong radio interview at KBS Cool FM Hong Jin Kyung's Entertainment Open Space was held on 2/24. In this interview, Hyun Joong was asked to sing 'Because I'm Stupid' live. He obliged. But to get a good echo for the song, he went to the toilet to sing the song. ^^

While Hyun Joong was signing inside the toilet, he could no longer contain his laughter in the chorus part!!! Really cute. And do you know who was with him inside the toilet? Kim Bum and Kim Joon. They were also interviewed.

- Hyun Joong is not attractive to girls like Geum Jan Di
- He was asked who amongst the F4 characters he like. He said that his character, Ji Hoo because he's quiet and doesn't like to fight.
- As for the ending of BoF, he wants Seo Hyun, his first love, to come back and Jan Di and Jun Pyo to be together in the end.
- The interviewer asked him to promise that he would come to her radio show for his first radio show after the broadcast of BoF end. Also, she asked him if he could bring the rest of the F4.

These boys are so cute. I hope that there was a camera while the interview somewhere so that we can see their facial expression.

Anyway, we might see them all [including Lee Min Hoo] tomorrow for the Baeksang Awards. It was reported that they will be there. Kim Hyun Joon won 1st place in the popularity award though i don't know if there will be other who will receive the popularity award aside from him. Lee Min Hoo is vying for the new actor award for drama category. And like what i posted earlier, So Ji Sub is also in the running for the new actor award for movie category.

02/24 [info] Star Diary (3) HyunJoong ‘Father Smashed Guitar, Ran Away From Home’

#Kim HyunJoong ran away from home during 3rd year middle school and 1st year high school for music.

Being a member of school band ‘AXERS’ during middle school, Kim HyunJoong promoted to high school and prepared to be an entertainer. He was chosen to be a trainee when he was in year 1 and started the systematic training.

Even though he wanted to keep everything as a secret from his parents, but because the entertainment company requires the permission from the parents for underage trainees, he had no choice but to let his parents know. His mother mdm JungYeonMi recalled “I was working while the manager called in. He asked for the permission for HyunJoong to become a trainee but I told him ‘no’ immediately. I warned him not instigate these kids.”

However, Kim HyunJoong continued his life as a trainee and naturally it became more frequent to skip school. In the end, as he did not have enough attendance during the 2nd semester in year 1, the school contacted his parents that he had to stop school.

At the night after his father submitted the application to stop school. His father wasn’t able to control his anger and scolded Kim HyunJoong “From now on, you go and earn money to feed yourself”. In the reprimanding from his parents, Kim HyunJoong ran out from his house.

Kim HyunJoong also had another experience of running away from home during 3rd year middle school. He was given permission to participate in school band on the condition that he will do well in his studies, however when his results declined suddenly, his father smashed his guitar.

Kim HyunJoong who usually obeys his parents, ran away from home after seeing his guitar being smashed. He returned home again after 5 days. Kim HyunJoong who endured a lot of distress after running away from home said “Father, as long as you tell me not to leave home” and his father replied “Comeback home”.

After stopping school, Kim HyunJoong who was given the responsibility of handling his own things himself by his parents, started doing part-time jobs. He worked every evening at chicken shop, T family restaurant, etc. His mother revealed “Which parents in the world would feel good to see their own children working but not studying? It was a daily routine for me to go and watch over him working at T shop every night at 10 o’clock through the window panes before coming home. Just like that, I watch over HyunJoong for an hour everyday and cried.”

Kim HyunJoong himself also started to gradually regret about stopping school as time passes. However, it is no use crying over spilt milk. His mother who is unable to see him like this goes to the Office of Education and begged to be able to transfer to another school, and the following year, he was able to return to school as a student.

I'm glad that despite all the problems and the success of SS501, Hyun Joong was able to graduate from high school. i wonder if he ever thought of entering the university?

It must have a really hard for him when he was a teenager as well as with his parents. I'm certain that Hyun Joong learned something from his past experiences and i hope those experiences will make him to be a better person.

When there are less news...

Geez, it's so quite in baeland. It's been days [or weeks] now that we get news about Yong Joon. Even in soompi the ladies their are kinda quiet and just waiting for new stuff.

You want to know what's our topic today in soompi? It's about Yong Joon's hair. Seems like there are some soompiers who want Yong Joon to retain is long hair. Well, i actually can understand them. They only got to discover Yong Joon during TWSSG. Who wouldn't fall in love with him with that hair and look?

For me, either long or short it doesn't matter for so long that it's not permed like 'The Image Vol 1' days. ^^ My ideal short hair of Yong Joon would be Hotelier days or 'April Snow' days.

Btw, I watched episode 3 of 'Cain and Abel' last night. It was so intense...gory...and So Ji Sub is really really good. There are already so many conflicts in the first 3 episodes alone. Can't wait to see what will happen tonight. I think in tonight's episode, there'll be no more perky Cho In [SJS] but instead a very hurt and confuse Cho In.

There are quite a lot of number of viewers in soompi but it saddens me that t there's no one recapping each episode after it ends. It would have been really nice if someone can do that especially in that forum since it'll serve as a promo as well.

While talking about Ji Sub, he'll be competing tomorrow with Kang Ji Hwang for best new actor award at Baeksang for the movie 'Rough Cut'. I really really hope he wins.

Lee Bo Young Now with BOF

Another artist signed up a contract with Boundaries of Forest [BOF] and she's no less than Lee Bo Young.


Lee Bo Young, 30, is an actress and a model. She has been in several movies and dramas [Mr Goodbye (KBS, 2006), The Ballad of Suh Dong (SBS, 2005, Save the Last Dance for Me (SBS, 2004)]. Her current project is 'Sad Love Story' opposite Kwong Sang Woo and Lee Beom Soo [On Air]. It is said that she is currently dating Ji Sung [All In].

02/23 [trans] Star Diary (2) Kim HyunJoong ‘During Year 1 Middle School, Excited To See Seo TaiJi’

Kim HyunJoong who has long legs since elementary school, listened to songs by ‘Seo TaiJi & Boys’ when he is still an elementary student and indulge into music. He traveled to 5 European countries with his elder brother when he was in year 5 elementary school.

“I get really excited if I see him!”

Though Kim HyunJoong swept away all the females’ hearts , there is a star whom he wants to meet. He is none other than the culture leader Seo Taiji.

Kim HyunJoong started to be a fan of Seo Taiji when he went to the records store with his father and bought Seo Taiji’s LP for the first time when he was still an elementary student. “I still have the LP that I bought at that time. Especially after I heard Seo Taiji’s ‘It is Ultraman” in year 2000, I started to completely fall for heavy metal genre.”

That was when he was in 1st year of middle school. Kim HyunJoong saved up his money from his part-time job to purchase his first guitar. “With 70,000won, I went to the Music Instruments Shopping District but there isn’t any guitars that I can afford. One shop owner sold me at a discounted price feeling sorry at the look of me walking along and holding on to the 1,000 won notes which I’ve saved from my part-time job.”

After he bought his guitar, he neglected his studies and immersed with practicing guitar. Practically not going anywhere outside, he held to his guitar for 10 hours a day. And he formed a school band ‘AXERS’ with 5 friends, and when they have money, they would spend it on 7,000won hourly rent practice room to practice together.

‘AXERS’ gained recognition for their relatively good merits among their same-aged group. Every time without fail, they would perform at school celebration events and their head-banging skills heated up the audience atmosphere.

Even though he is the leader of dance idol group SS501 now, rock is still Kim HyunJoong’s favorite genre. “Rock (music) is definitely the best to be in rhythm with the audience. Compared to singing in a band, I think it is more cool to be quietly playing the bass at the back.” [liezle : he really wanted to be a rocker but DSP said no ^^]

Kim HyunJoong’s love for Seo Taiji doesn’t change as time goes by. When Seo Taiji released 10,000 limited edition of his 10 years debut anniversary commemoration album in 2007, Kim HyunJoong pre-ordered at various places to be able to purchase just 2 copies of it.

So we ask Kim HyunJoong if he has seen his all-time idol Seo Taiji after he debuted as a singer? Answer is ‘not yet’.

“Last year, when Seo Taiji comeback with his album ‘MOAI’, someone in the broadcasting company promised to show me to him, however it was a pity that I missed it due to SS501’s schedule. I still feel very excited when I think that I will get to personally see Seo Taiji singing.” [liezle : i hope his dreaming of meeting his will come true]

On the news today, Hyun Joong mentioned in his radio interview yesterday that after he has done his part in 'Boys Over Flowers [BoF]' he plans to go the US for six months to study dancing and singing.

I'm not sure how accurate this is since from what I know after BoF, all cast will be going to Japan in April for the promo of their drama. Then after that SS501 is slated to have a comeback in June or July of this year.

I've mixed emotion when I read this. I'm glad that he wants to study in the US to improve his craft but sad at the same time because he'll surely be missed by SS501 fans [including me]. I wonder what DSP thinks about this?

In addition to the news about his plans in going to the US to study. I guess in the same radio interview, the host ask him in an interview over the phone to express his humorous thoughts towards F3 who are Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum and Kim Joon. With his usual bluntness that we've witnessed in 'We Got Married' he said the following to F3...

To Min Ho : "Min Ho ah, you are too tall. When we are filming using a long shot, I look shorter than you, really pisses (jokingly) me off. Don't walk with me next time."

btw, according to the article, LMH and Kim Bum were beside him during this interview and that their laughter was heard on the airwaves when they heard what Hyun Joong has to say about them. ^^

btw with no BoF every Wednesday and Thursday, i'm watching 'Cain & Abel' of So Ji Sub [currently airing on SBS if you have TVants] . I really want to blog a bit of this drama but With S2 still has not released any sub titles today. Though there were some gorggy operations in episode 1 and 2, i find the drama kinda interesting, with many conflicts and fast paced. I'm so curious about the anger that Cho In's [SJS] stepmom is harboring on him and what really happened to Cho In in the dessert.

I just finished watching episode 16 and i feel so sad for Ji Hoo. I really hope that he could find someone who will love him and give him comfort. Sigh...

Anyway, episode 16 was kinda dragging. Glad though that there are a lot of Ji Hoo's scenes and quite a number of good scene too from Lee Min Hoo [Jun Pyo].

As a member of the boyband SS501, there are hardly things we know about Kim Hyun Joong. Yes, his mom gave interviews to reporters revealing KHJ early years and more.

Family photo of pretty boy Kim HyunJoong (Left up) taken 3~4 years ago, a precious photo that was hung in their living room. Family photo was taken together before Kim HyunJoong’s elder brother Kim YoungJoong left for USA for his studies.

Kim HyunJoong who acts as Yoon JiHoo in KBS 2TV ‘Boys Over Flowers’ has an unknown tear-breaking and filial piety story behind him. Kim HyunJoong’s mother JungYeonMi said to IS in an interview on 19-Feb “HyunJoong is very sentimental child even though he is blunt and doesn’t talk much.” She also talked about the story of crying when she received a gift of beauty products from his son recently.

Kim HyunJoong’s mother said “He came home a few days ago and put the beauty products on the dining table. I asked him what is that and my son replied ‘Mum, I bought for you to use. Now can you please learn to enjoy life? Can you don’t do the work at the market anymore?’ and some other good-talking.”

She continued “I talked to my son’s uncle to whom he is very close with to discuss what I should do. Uncle said ‘HyunJoong came over to find me not long ago, he said he suddenly saw his mother’s face and that there were more wrinkles than before, he was so heart-broken. Then he went to the restroom to cry because he hates being seen crying.’ After which, he asked his uncle which beauty products are good to smoothen wrinkles as he wants to purchase it as a gift. Hearing that my son went to the restroom to cry, I felt really bad. Now, I am considering to stop my clothing business at DongDaeMoon market.”

Kim HyunJoong’s parents folded up their poor business during IMF (financial crisis time) and started their clothing business at DongDaeMoon which both of them have to work until very late together. Kim HyunJoong who was a high school student at that time, dropped out from school to work part-time to earn himself a living while preparing to debut as a singer.

JungYeonMi said “Because we wanted to raised our son as a strong kid with responsibility, we pretended not to know when he came back from his part-time work at wee hours in the morning. My husband and I would go to the restaurant that our son was working at and waited outside for an hour every night to look at him and we cried. Even though the lights were on while we wait for our son to return, the truth is that we would turn off the lights and pretended that we were sleeping just before he reaches the front door.”

Kim HyunJoong has been thrifty while being active as a singer to save money for his brother’s overseas studies fee. Recently, his filial piety can also be seen when he gave a new car to replace his father’s 10 years old car.

JungYeonMi said “I always say to my son to pray to god before they start to do anything. We opposed to our smart son, who managed to get grade 3 in Chinese Character Competence Test during elementary school, to get into the entertainment industry, but we believed in him when we saw his persistence in doing what he wanted to do. 02/22 [trans] Star Diary (1) Kim HyunJoong ‘Was A Student Who Is Not Popular Among Female Students”

“He was a student who is not (?) popular among female students.”

Kim HyunJoong received all the love from female fans to himself through the role of Prince Charming Yoon JiHoo in drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’ (KBS 2 TV). However, he is an ‘ordinary guy’ who doesn’t catch any attention from female students of his same age while he was younger.

Kim HyunJoong said “Usually artistes would have female students lining up in front of their house from their student days onwards, but that is not the case for me. Maybe that is because I started wearing glasses from 2nd year elementary school onwards. And maybe that is also why I don’t have much interest about female students.”
Kim HyunJoong was born in Seoul in 1986, the year where the Asian Games took place. We asked his mother Mdm JungYeonMi about her pregnancy dream, she recollected, “There was a huge truck filled with radish, and I saw a unique lovely one right at the top. I spread out my apron to catch the radish which was falling down but it was so awfully big that I stumbled back sitting down. The place where I sat had clean water running.”

At his 1st birthday, he took writing brush, pencil and notebook, so we were all expecting him to become a scientist. And also, because of his exceptionally big and pretty eyes, people always called him ‘Morning Star’ when he was young.

Kim HyunJoong was an ordinary student. Did not suffer from any serious illness, he is a role model son who has not disappoint his parent’s expectations of him. He had been class monitor or vice monitor during his elementary school days. His report card was always marked with ‘Excellent’ in it.



His dream when he was young was to become a scientist. Kim HyunJoong recalled “When I first saw aircraft and such, I thought of making such things. I wanted to be a scientist who is able to make those kinds of robots that we see in comics and movies.”

Kind son Kim HyunJoong made his own suggestion for the first time to his parents when he is in 4th year of elementary school. Kim HyunJoong who likes Taekwondo, swimming, soccer, etc, suddenly announced one day that he wants to become a soccer player.

Mdm JungYeonMi explained “All his teachers said he is good in studies to the extent that it shouldn’t be a problem for him to get into Seoul University (One of the best University in Korea). As a parent, we hope that he can continue to study rather than to go into sports or entertainment business, but in the end his strict father took charge so he didn’t get into soccer.”

Though he is usually quiet, his talents were already shown little by little. Kim HyunJoong would always be the person-in-charge of entertainment without fail during excursions, making the atmosphere better.

The talents, which melted in him, gradually became stronger when he went into middle school. He slowly started to rebel against his parents’ wish for him to continue studying.

This is my take on 4D. It actually refers to a person who has a personality that somehow differs from the average person. It’s like a person who is spontaneous, blunt in a funny way and witty in a very creative approach. Person with 4D personalities also tend to react rather differently from a given situation. Sounds so Hyun Joong, right?

His being 4D I think it is an effortless cuteness of Hyun Joong. This trait of him makes him so adorable.
