Kim Hyun-joong took on an interview with Korea Star Daily last week... "Why do people like me? Yeah thats right, why do they like a person like me?"

Can you actually believe Kim Hyunjoong doesn't know why people like him? In dramas, Kim Hyunjoong always appear as the soft guy, but in reality, he's actually quite stiffened in personality. Exactly because of that, Kim Hyunjoong has had many bitter-sour love experiences, "I'm rather stiffened, and though I treat my girlfriend nice, I don't tend to express myself during relationships, that's why I often get dumped in the end".

Who could have expected Kim Hyunjoong to be dumped? He continued to add that he "has many experiences of being rejected by girls after confessing. I always get dumped by my girlfriend after dating. Probably she finds no interest in dating me. As compared to opposite genders, I like to meet my friends more, so I guess I tend to neglect my girlfriend more. I can't choose between friends and lover, but I do seem to enjoy being with my friends more, and times spent together is long too. But, I still treat my girlfriend well when I'm with her".

Kim Hyunjoong is a man of few words, but is also honest and straight. As soon as he opens his mouth, he'll speak whatever's at the bottom of his heart - this, is Kim Hyunjoong's charm. He also answered frankly when asked about love, "If I'm in a relationship, I don't intend to be open about this, because this girl might be veiled with the title like 'oh she's who and who's girl'; this is very disrespectful towards the girl, I feel. This might be a torture for the girl, so I won't want to be public about it".

He expressed that he's dated showbiz people, and also non-showbiz people. He divulged his thoughts for destiny, "I believe in love at first sight, and also had such experiences. She just greeted me once only, and then I already fell deep in. I like frank people, I don't know how to deal with too womenly or meticulous people, so I enjoy dating straight and frank people. I also feel kinda awkward towards junior girls who call me oppa. The girls I dated before is quite different from my ideal type, so far, I had only dated my ideal kind of woman - once".

Kim Hyun-joong has this real charm that simply goes beyond words. He possesses fame that an idol should have, and also the kind of sophisticated air about him just like an on-looker.

On-looker here means a person who does by his own book of rules, and one who won't be shaken nor moved easily, he's one youth who has real depth within him. After drama [Playful Kiss] ended, he flew straight to Guangzhou to perform for Asian Games. He looked kind of lethargic probably because of his tight schedules, but still, he did not lose that sophistication nor air, "I didn't sleep too short either, about 4 hours? During drama shooting, I didn't even manage to sleep for 4 hours across 3 days... 4 hours now is totally considered nothing, my physique has been good by nature; I'm a '86-er, wasn't the first Asian Game held in Korea. Yeah I was born at that time, now that I stood on the stage of this opening ceremony, I feel so amazing, and what is more I'm representing Korea, so I'm really so honored. Seeing so many audiences, I plan secretly - for all of these people to come watch my concert".

Responses from the audiences turned out particularly well, Kim Hyunjoong attracted the attention of numerous China audiences as he smiled brightly to his singing, "what amazed me was that my fans increased, next day when I left China, so many fans came to send me off at the airport. It's so amazing how there was such a huge change in just a day". Every one is so bothered by Kim Hyunjoong - from his airport fashion to every movement of his cause topics of discussions. "Airport apparels? How ever way they let me wear I just wear that way. I'm an aloof guy? I'm not aloof ne, it's quite different from that kind of aloof ah. In reality I'm a person who puts on casual exercising uniform and wears slippers to meet up and eat fried chickens and drink white wine with friends in the small towns. I'm definitely not an aloof city lad".

The CNN interview is also a special experience for him. CNN has been holding an interest for Kim Hyunjoong who is stirring about a Hanryu fever on Youtube. CNN even selected Kim Hyunjoong to be the next generation representative singer cum actor for leading Hanryu. "I'm still not a Hanryu star, this word is quite forceful to me, but I'm preparing to be one. (Bae) Yong-joon hyung indeed gave me much help, everybody thought we talked about something really big but in fact just daily life talks. Like yesterday, we even talked till 1AM". A meeting between Kim Hyunjoong and Bae Yongjoon is enough to agitate people, however their meetings have never been disclosed before. "How strange, hyung and I don't actually meet at some particular place or what, just some normal and plain coffee houses, yet I have never seen photos of our meetings on the internet at all".

So could it be that people don't believe in the possible appearance of two handsome males? "Really? Well we're just about the same... There're really many matters to thank hyung for. Hyung is a hanryu star, so he also sort of paved this road for me. Hyung is envious me, because at his time, noone gave him help nor advice, but I have hyung to teach me". Kim Hyunjoong and Bae Yongjun's relationship is touching as Kim Hyunjoong falls long of words to describe their friendship. Lastly Kim Hyunjoong says, "I took on [Playful Kiss] because I felt it's a work that could totally change my life. Yeah the ratings were kind of regretful to know of, but it's just a digit. The beginning now is the real beginning".

Kim Hyunjoong is an actor whose stark personality shines as he differentiates clearly between love and hate, and also one who asks alot of himself. Even his value principle is like that of his personality, unsure if it's because of this reason, the moment people mention him, every one thinks of him as demarcative.

"I'm definitely not an aloof city lad who knows nothing about emotions", as Kim Hyunjoong expresses his dissatisfaction for an adjective "aloof city lad" amongst all adjectives being used to describe him. Previously when he was in Guangzhou for the 2010 Asian Games opening ceremony, his [airport fashion] was also described by people as "aloof city lad". To this, Kim Hyunjoong expressed utter detachment from his real personality, "Yeah don't tell me my style is an aloof and city-beat? Don't think so, I'm not aloof at all. I'm actually one who will go to drink spicy chicken soup and drink soju with my friends at roadside stalls in casual slippers and sports uniform, I'm definitely not one who knows nothing about emotions".

With that, it seems like we can't use the adjective "cold and icy" to describe Kim Hyunjoong, anymore. Even he does not feel such about himself, "I'm totally not terse, regarding fashion I'm totally dumb-bell. About things like smart phones, I'm also not interested, and is also not one who's very sensitive to fashion trends or anything". If that's the case like what he's said, then what will he do during his free time? span style="font-style:italic;">"I'm not very same as other guys, I don't really like gaming nor billiards. I love playing soccer the most, and also to rent a housing car to go camping at the mountainous areas with friends, and play soccer once every week".

After starring in one after another dramas, words like "2nd Hanryu star" also began to surface on him. However, Kim Hyunjoong actually possess a very matured side to him which does not suit in with his age at all. He may be a youthful idol but he already has a detailed plan for his entire life, "I've always been living with plans, and also enjoys planning for each and every thing. If I don't do according to such a way I'll feel uncomfortable, and will also in turn become more careful. I previously said I'll retire once I earn 2.2 billion, but to think back of it now, it's so childish. I used to think 0.1 billion can be so easily earned, but now I gradually learn that making money is so not easy".

When our journalist asked him if he still wants to get married early, he expressed his original plan to marry at 30 years, and then live on happily, but now there's a change of plans, "I've always thought 30 years old is so matured, but it's not like that at all. I presume I'll not be able to marry at 30, and in the end my plan to have kids will also change. Currently I don't have thoughts to get married, I'm enjoying alot in my career, working". Things that Kim Hyunjoong wants to do is still many many, though ratings for his drama is low, [Playful Kiss] will still seemingly continue to open the second door to his life.

"To me, every day is a new turning point. I like to plan my timetable for every single day, even meal times. Even promises I made at the slip of a mouth - I really keep to them. I hope to live my life in a scheduled and planned manner, because I have aplenty of matters to complete".

"Ghost? I think I still see about 2 in a year". Until now, Kim Hyunjoong will still say some sentences that gives rise to bursts of laughters. Though he isn't one who can totally open his heart in front of outsiders, so long content comes from him, it never fails to be frank and sincere and, real.

In showbiz, one could hear the many ghost stories of celebrities, but no one, ever told a ghost story as calmly as Kim Hyunjoong did. You know, even "meeting ghosts" is like a daily routine for him, he often portrudes this eerie and uncontrollable air about him. "Kyujong and I saw ghosts before, and we both asked each other, 'did you see it just now?', 'yeah I saw'". Goosebumps rose on the back skin of our journalist, but on Kim Hyunjoong's face, it was expressionless as though nothing was the case. Interview also came to an end then, but still, we couldn't quite grasp what kind of person Kim Hyunjoong is.

Recently there are so many new words to describe Kim Hyunjoong, like what "Bae Yongjoon's successor", "2nd generation of Hanryu star", "representative icon of youth and fashion" etc etc, but him who lies within the core of discussion is ever so calm-minded, as if it does not concern him at all. Since he does everything according to plans, he's a more rational person than sentimental. He reveals that he often tries hard to change from a sensational person to a rational one, because this is a pavement where everybody has to walk past in order to turn mature.

Until now, Kim Hyunjoong has been living his life according to his plans, exactly because of that, he will take in people's suggestions and feedbacks while ignoring the harsh and bad talks abut him, not because he's doing it on purpose but rather it comes as a form of him - born by nature. "I've never bothered myself with those harsh talks, I'm very extremely satisfied with my fans who support me and my working environment. Why should I please the people who don't like me? Even if these kind of people humiliate my parents is fine as well, because I have absolutely no need to take these people who don't understand me into heart. Besides, they're not speaking truth". With such a reason, he does not mind at all how people rate him based on acting in [Playful Kiss] and its low ratings.

"My hanryu generation will be a brand new generation", as he says. Kim Hyunjoong with such confidence will surely turn to a glorious sight. This is no big talk as this has already formed into a concrete map presented right in front of us.

[Fan Account] Last Day of Leader in Cebu 06.23.10

Kim Hyun Joong's 4th day in Cebu

I woke up at 5 am and decided to get pictures of the sunrise. When I passed his room, he was there at the veranda. I could not believe it. Leader awake at 5:20 am (that was the time when I passed his room). I did not expect him to be awake, with his history of having a hard time waking up. His two security guards were outside the room, chilling.

A friend informed me that there was a Korea soccer match at 2 am. So, it could be that he did not sleep yet and was still awake from watching the soccer match or he really just woke up early.

I passed by his room again at 7:20 am. He was still there with his very distinct voice, talking with his friends.

My family and I swam at the pool the whole morning. There were no signs of him the whole time. We left the resort at around 1:30. Before that we strolled around the resort but were not able to catch a glimpse of leader. At 1:00 pm, his companions had lunch at the Kilimanjaro restaurant but no leader. He was probably sleeping now after staying up late to watch the soccer match (only my guess).

I then deduced that he would be taking the midnight trip as he was still at the resort at 1:30 pm. His group was booked up to this day, June 23.

We, with other tsp fans here in Cebu, then planned to go see him off at the airport. I got there at 9 pm and the others got there at 8 pm. I am so grateful to leader. Because of him, I have new friends (Kimy, Richelle, Kristine, Danyelle, Sherry, Jubhe) whom I would never have any chance to meet if it were not for our love of him. I got to meet these friends through the blogs and internet. I also met in the airport two other tsp fan. They went there just to get a glimpse of leader. Nice meeting you, Sherry and Kitkat.

We positioned ourselves at the chairs facing the entrance so we can see him as he comes inside. At 10:00, there was still no sign of him. Finally, at around 10 plus, one of his bodyguards arrived. I informed the others. After awhile the dancers and make up artists came too. They stopped in front of us. We sat there just getting giddy at the thought that he is on the way. We sat the whole time, really quiet and trying to contain our excitement.

The dancers stood there just milling around. They even started doing some dance moves right there. A Korean guy in shorts came and the female Korean who met them when leader arrived came also. They facilitated the getting of tickets. They took the passports and tickets and brought inside the departure area. This took like an hour or so. The whole time, the dancers were just standing, talking, sitting and even dancing. One dancer did the ‘love ya’ dance moves. Another two did dance turns and so forth.

The group of course noticed us and I’m sure they knew that we were waiting for leader. I was especially feeling conscious because I was worried that some of them might recognize me from Plantation bay. I did see them so several times there. However, we did not disturb them and so I guess they did not mind us at all also.

This whole time, leader was inside the van parked outside the airport. Another tsp fan was there and she saw him inside the van. One of the security guards told her no pictures but it is okay to take a video. Sadly, her video was accidentally erased.

The sales ladies inside the airport started to get excited as they learned that leader was here and on his way. However, after a long time, he still did not come out.

At 12 plus, the dancer group went inside but leader still did not come out. We were getting worried if he might use a different entry. At this time, there were very little people left at the airport. Only two group of passengers and their family and friend were left and of course us. One of the passengers was a Korean. They also learned about leader and got excited.

Finally, we saw the airport guard asking people to move aside. We then knew he was coming. All of a sudden more people appeared. Just a second ago, the airport was very quiet and with very little people and suddenly people just appeared. Leader with Laura, 3 security guards (in black shirts and jeans) and a dancer came inside the airport. One security guard went ahead to part he crowd, while the other two stood beside leader. He wore the same shirt he did to the fan meeting in Manila minus the black vest. He was wearing shades again but his hair was just down without the ponytail. Everyone followed leader until he reached the entrance door of the departure area. People were taking pix and videos. People were also saying ‘I love you’, ‘oppa sarangheyo’, ‘leader’ and others.

Earlier, two of my new friends (Kim and Rich) prepared letters and gift for leader. They were wondering if he would take them. I told them that I am sure he will. As leader was walking up the stairs towards the departure area, he saw them holding out their gifts and letters. He really reached out and took them. See how nice he is. My friends were so kilig of course to have their letters personally received by leader. Go girls!

Inside the departure area, you can see from the video that leader really kept looking back at us, at the people who were there to say goodbye. He faced the crowd and waved and he even said ‘kamsamhamnida’. Before disappearing from view, he raised both hands and waved.

Goodbye leader. It was great meeting you. The whole experience feels so surreal but unforgettable.

3rd day in Cebu : Plantation Bay

Leader was initially booked at Imperial Palace resort but he did not push thru, maybe because it was crowded and more people will recognize him. He then checked in at Mactan Isla Resort and Spa in Lapu-lapu. He stayed at Isla resort because he is friends with the owner. There was no booking for him there. His friend probably offered and he obliged.

Initially he was set to stay at Isla resort for 3 days. However, he checked out on June 21 at 3 pm. He wanted to swim either Monday am or Sunday night and was not able to due to the pool being chlorinated. I heard another version of the reason why he could not swim but I will not get into that. But he was able to swim one time. He has a nice body according to people who saw him (we know that already). he he he

So, Leader moved to Plantation bay resort on June 21 at past 3 pm. That night his group went out for dinner.

June 22, 2010, an angel (he he he) booked a room for me and my family at Plantation Bay resort and spa. I was not sure if he was really there; I hoped and prayed he would be. I was there anyway for my family.

After settling into our room, we went around the resort. We went inside their gift shop and after awhile, two big guys came inside- his two bodyguards. OMG! I thought to myself, leader is really here. The 2 security guys just looked around.

We continued with our walk, my companions wanted to ride the cart as they were getting tired from walking. I flagged down a cart and there sitting was Laura, the Korean interpreter. I sat down beside her. This really confirms that leader was here. She got off at a building and I noted this building as this could be leader’s room and it was. The 2 security guys I saw in the gift shop were there and got on the go cart as well.

We then went to the restaurant to get drinks. Leader’s friends (my friends said they were his dancers and make up artist) were having lunch there. There were around 9 guys, including the bodyguards and 3 girls, including Laura with Leader in this trip.

We went to the pool to swim. At around 4 pm, leader’s companions went to the pool to swim. No sign of leader.

I invited two friends to come visit me at Plantation. They arrived at 5 pm. They went around the resort in the hopes of seeing leader. I stayed at the pool with my family.



At 5:30, the KHJ group stopped swimming and left. At around 6:30 pm my friends came back and reported that they did not see leader at all. I then decided to stroll around the resort with them. I showed them first the other fresh water pool. It was in an elevated place with just 4 steps. We looked around. As we walked down the steps out of the pool area and back to the main walkway, I heard voices. At the end of the step, I looked up and there walking towards us was leader with 3 other companions. Leader looked at us, paused and smiled. He really paused and he looked like he was waiting for a reaction from us. Our eyes met and I smiled. We continued walking like it was any other ordinary day. That was around 6:43 pm. When we were at a distance where he couldn’t see us, that was the time we freaked out. HA HA HA. Beforehand, I told my friends that we just have to be relaxed and not disturb him. I wanted him to have a relax time here and not be harassed.

That moment we met him was played out like in a slow motion movie. Our hearts really stopped. It was like everything was moving at a very slow pace.

That time he was walking was the time he just came from playing soccer with his friends at the tennis court. Talk about being a soccer freak, he he he. He was wearing a sleeveless gray shirt with some print or design and board shorts. He had his hair in the same way when he arrived, the small ponytail on top of his head. He was sweating but still looked good. He was talking and was having fun with his companions. His other companions walked out of the tennis court after awhile.

My friends and I continued our stroll. We were floating the whole time. I went back to the pool where my family was still swimming. My two friends decided to stroll some more in the hopes of seeing him again. I decided to swim then as I have already seen leader. At around 7:15 pm, my friends’ texted that they got information that leader and his party of dancers will have dinner at Galapagos beach (the beach area of the resort where there is a bar. Tables and chairs are set up for guests) where there will be a cultural show. They decided to stay there and wait for him. I opted to stay in the pool and continued swimming. At around 7:30 or so, I saw leader’s friends and one bodyguard enter Kilimanjaro restaurant beside the pool where I was. I thought, maybe they are not joining leader in the beach area. However, after 10 minutes or so, leader comes in with the rest of his party. They started ordering and chatting. I couldn’t believe my luck. He was on a table right beside the pool. I had a very nice view of him eating. He did look up from his eating once and saw me in the pool. No one else was swimming, except me and my family (I was with 3 family members). I got a video of him (discretely, without him noticing) while eating. The video is dark and not so clear but at least I got something.



Near 8 pm. my friends came to the pool as they heard that he was in the pool restaurant. I asked them to get a video of him while eating. They were able to position themselves at the top of the steps of the slide outside the restaurant. Aside from my friends, staff from other departments went in groups of 3 and 4 to look at leader in the restaurant. Everybody kept their distance and just looked at him from outside the restaurant. They were so excited to see him but only observed from afar. Even the cooks and kitchen staff stared at leader from the kitchen, just observing him.

At 8 pm, the pool was closed for cleaning and we had to stop swimming. I decide to eat at the restaurant. As we entered the restaurant, leader and some oh his companions looked up. I caught his eye again. I just went to a table and sat down. I purposely sat with my back to him coz I know I will not be able to help myself from staring. After awhile, I did turn casually and looked at him. He also turned to look up and our eyes met again. My heart stopped again. I am getting heart burns from this, he he he. I just looked away, as if just like nothing. I don’t know how I managed to sit there and not rush to him and just hugged him. I glanced at him again at another time and just perfect timing, he would also look up and catch my eye.

They chatted while eating. I heard kimchi being delivered to their table. He has a loud voice and would stand out from the rest or maybe I have his voiced memorized and so I can pick out his voice from the rest. Anyway, I enjoyed my meal while listening to him talk to his companions. After he was done, he left ahead of the others. He stood up, one bodyguard went ahead, he followed and another bodyguard followed him. Laura also stood up to go after him but she came back to the table. I was able to video this but very short. The staff said kamsamhamnida to him and he slightly bowed in return.



After eating, I went back to the room. We got information that his group was going out and that they were at the lobby. Maybe they will hang out somewhere. At around 10 pm, my family and I went swimming again. When we passed by his room, we heard voices inside. So, I’m not sure if he really went out or stayed in. They were booked in Iguaso building with 3 or 4 rooms (not too sure) sharing an open sala. It had a big veranda and it was slightly covered with trees. Plantation bay has different names for each of their buildings and places. The reception lobby was called Alcatraz, the buildings are named from A to Z.

I went to sleep that night contented to be in the same place as leader.

Where did Leader stay in Mactan, Cebu?

Where do you think Leader went when he was in Mactan, Cebu? Now that Leader is back in Seoul I guess it's now okay to blog about his whereabouts when he was in Mactan for a short holiday. sarangkhj is so kind to share some info where Leader has gone during his short stay in the Queen of the South.

According to sarangkhj, on the day that Leader's group arrived he was supposed to stay at Imperial Palace as he was booked there but he did not show up. Leader was supposed to stay here for 3 days but he and his group checked out. Anyway, it was said that he wanted to swim very early but wasn't able to do so because the pool is being chlorinated but later on he was able to do so.

The group then transferred to Mactan Isla Resort and Spa. This is supposed to be the room of Leader at Mactan Isla Resort and Spa. The first two pix is the villa where he stayed. It’s a stand alone building and not attached to the main building. It is still right beside the main complex. It is one storey, with 3 bedrooms.











As earlier mentioned Leader didn't stay at Imperial Palace, instead he stayed in Mactan Isla Resort and Spa [NOT Shangri-la Mactan Island Resort & Spa... ] which according to someone is owned by Leader's friend.

Yesterday, Leader and his group were at Plantation Bay. Info about his stay there will be posted later. ^^

Leader arrived early this morning at Incheon from his short an event in Manila and a short vacation in Cebu, Philippines. He left Cebu at 1AM today at arrived Incheon at 6AM.

[Article] Leader in a city of specks of wonderful attractions in the Philippines

It 's now out in the open. PhilStar.com reported on it's news portal Kim Hyun Joong's vacation in Cebu. I guess Leader must have heard from friends the beautiful smile city of Cebu with so many beaches, mangoes, great handmade guitars from friends [DBSK was before I think several times, one of his high school friends studied here].

I have been to Cebu many times and the best place I've been to is Shangri-la Mactan. You may want to check it HERE. When I learned that Leader is going to be in Cebu, I first thought that he'll be staying in this resort since there'll be less Koreans there now since Imperial Palace will be crowded with Koreans since it's new and owned by Koreans. [There is another resort which I'll tell you later ^^]

Anyway, since Leader I think is still here, for now read this article first. I'll be sharing a bit of info later which sarangkhj shared when Leader is back in Seoul later.

On a gentle reminder those who plan to see Leader please let him enjoy his short vacation, k? Like what I've been saying who knows if he feels he's safe here he might come back and even bring some of his friends.

"Boys Over Flowers" star in Cebu for 'vacation'

CEBU, Philippines - Korean star Kim Hyun Joong (also known as Ji Hoo of “Boys Over Flowers” fame) is reportedly in Cebu for a vacation. He arrived in Cebu via the Cebu Pacific 5J 581 flight that left early afternoon from Manila last Sunday.

Kim Hyun Joong was accompanied by bodyguards, was friendly to passengers, responded to fans’ greetings, but didn’t accommodate requests for photographs, Carleizle Gonzaga, one of the Cebu Pacific flight attendants on-duty, told The FREEMAN.

She said that Korean tourists, who were on the same flight, were the ones who immediately recognized the South Korean idol.

Kim Hyun Joong was in Manila over the weekend as the special guest of the popular Korean Pop group Beast, which had a successful concert at the Araneta Coliseum last Saturday.

When asked if the “Boys Over Flowers” star was a hotel guest at the Korean-owned, five-star Imperial Palace Resort in Mactan, a source told The FREEMAN, “Yeah, he was supposed to arrive yesterday (Sunday), but he has not checked into (Imperial) yet.” As far as the source knows, the singer-actor is here in Cebu for vacation and not for work.

Imperial Palace has been the home of visiting Korean stars, becoming the set location of TV programs for the Korean channel KBS and videos of KPop stars like F.T. Island, 4Men, supermodel Jessica Gomes, among others.

Apart from Imperial Palace, Shangri-La Resort Mactan is also a choice hotel of Korean celebs, where KPop superstar Rain held the first fashion shoot for his clothing label and where the entire cast of the TV series “Jumong,” which was also aired in the Philippines, had their victory party-cum-vacation. Yeah the Hyuniversal0606l were here in the Philippines to give support to Hyun Joong last weekend and I believe that the group of five from Thailand enjoyed their very short trip.
