Hallyu actor Bae Yong Joon has announced that he’ll be debuting his own male idol group under Key East Entertainment.

Representatives of Key East revealed, “We are currently in the process of picking the members. We have yet to finalize the exact number of members, as well as what their musical style will be.”

Bae Yong Joon previously worked with SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong for his “Break Down” solo debut, and Kim Hyun Joong even went on to praise him at his own showcase, saying, “Bae Yong Joon diligently studied music.”

SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong revealed an incident where he was mistaken to be actor Bae Yong Joon because he couldn’t speak Chinese.

On the June 7th broadcast of SBS’s “Strong Heart,” Kim Hyun Joong was a guest as a part of the ‘Special Strong Heart King of Kings’ episode.

During the broadcast, he revealed that people call him a “Bae Yong Joon look-alike” and “2nd generation Bae Yong Joon.” Because of the similarities, he was once mistaken as Bae Yong Joon by Chinese fans during the Asian Games. Kim Hyun Joong stated, “A Chinese fan asked for my autograph but handed me a picture of Yong Joon hyung.”

At that time, Kim Hyun Joong repeatedly stated in English, “No! No Bae Yong Joon,” because he couldn’t communicate with the Chinese fan. However, the Chinese fan misunderstood him and thought ‘Bae Yong Joon’ wouldn’t sign the autograph for him because he was annoyed by him. The fan persistently followed Kim Hyun Joong around until finally swearing at him and leaving his side.

Kim Hyun Joong stated, “Well, that’s how I got rid of one Bae Yong Joon fan” – drawing much laughter from the guests and audience.

Having a high status in Japan, ‘Yon-sama’ owes a lot of his popularity from his Japanese fans, and with a gracious heart, he has decided to give away 1,000,000,000 WON, which comes up to approximately $900,000 USD.

Bae Yong Joon’s company, Keyeast, recently stated, “After hearing that Japan had limited relief supplies and equipment, Bae Yong Joon quickly reacted and donated 1,000,000,000WON for emergency support, hoping for a speedier recovery. That day was a day that rained really hard. That day I was so busy working at the new building (outside) that I lost my mind. I had to hold the guests' umbrellas, make sure their reservations were taken care of... I was rained on so much... All my makeup was ruined and I just turned into a beast... Haha...

But then all of a sudden, an electronic reservation came in. It was so unbearably busy and a reservation came in. I was throwing a fit while taking down the information, but I found out two hours later that it was a reservation for two people through Kim Hyun Joong. Hehe...

But I had no idea in my wildest dreams that it would actually be Kim Hyun Joong. It is because in the past, there was a reservation under Kang Dong Won's name so I was so excited that I put on my makeup and was waiting around for so long that I kept myself from going to the restroom because I didn't want to miss him!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was instead a grandfather in this 70's saying that he made a reservation under the name Kang Dong Won. So that's why I was thinking to myself that it must be someone with the same name !!!! In this documentary, they kindly worked on the images for the tourists with the Korean culture. He said that they planned to expand if they get good responses. The other associate said, “It will be beautiful if someone like Kim Hyun Joong also introduces Korea. We would like to produce it if the opportunity is given.”

This documentary will be a supplementary material for the travel book that Bae Yong Joon released in 2009. Those of which weren’t included in the book were added and it became a documentary which will help fans and tourists follow Bae Yong Joon’s steps. This is a big expansion of service area for Hallyu and his fans.

The time is past for just watching the Hallyu. Hallyu fans show their interests in Korea. It seems that a book or production of a documentary will satisfy their demands and become another Hallyu method in the future. This might be the reason that Hallyu star’s documentary series can be continued.

“A Journey in Search of Korean’s Beauty” is programmed as a Life special which is MBC LIFE’s new year special program. For 8 weeks starting on January 8th, they will deliver memoirs that Bae Yong Joon experienced while traveling from coast to coast in Korea, from Gangwon, Gyeongsang, Choongcheong, Jeolla, Gyeonggi, to Seoul. The viewers will vividly see them every Saturday at 11:00 pm.

Dream High's Viewing Rate Increased by a Hairline

Good day!

Alright, haven't seen any latest news with regard to any members of SS501 so for the meantime while we wait, let me post a 'Dream High' article since I'm interested in the drama.

Last night's episode gives me excitement to watch later after reading comments about the good acting of Kim Soo Hyun from this articles and some fora. Actually first episode was quite interesting especially at the last 15 minutes of its broadcast. They say Suzy's acting is a bit bland but I think she has pontententials. And Bae Yong Joon, I like the coolness and his character in the drama. I want to see more of him of course but we will only get to see him until episode 6.

[Mydaily = Reporter Keum Ara] Viewing rate of “Dream High” improved a little.

On the 5th, according to the viewing rate research agency, AGB Nielsen Media Research, the viewing rate of “Dream High”, aired on the night of the 4th, was 10.8% (in the non-metropolitan area). Compared to the first episode’s rate, 10.7%, 0.1% went up..

Only 0.1% difference compared to the day before even though the rate went up.

On that day’s airing, Park Jin Young, IU, and Kim Soo Hyun appeared for the first time. Park Jin Young’s acted scene was scratching his hip in front of Jeong Ha Myung (Bae Yong Joon) who came to offer him a position as an English teacher in the drama. IU also appeared for the first time with the so called, ugly look. Kim Soo Hyun played the role of a rural student and his acting was impressive.

On the other hand, MBC’s “Queen of Reversals” recorded 15.6%, and “Athena; Godness of War” recorded 16.7% which aired at the same time.

Dream High BYJ & KHJ Screencaps

Just saw 'Dream High' on YouTube without any English subs and I found episode one quite okay. After watching it I then read Dramabeans' recap. Afterwhich I find myself looking forward to episode 2 tonight.

Btw, most of you I believe already know that Hyun Joong's role in the drama is himself. When asked by reporters in one of the scenes what is his future plans, he replied that a new album will be released around May of this year. This reply of Hyun Joong received attention from his fans as he has been mentioning this in almost all of his interviews and even mentioned on his new year's message that he will be releasing 2 albums and a drama this year. ^^
