let me share with you rough translation of what the interview by the director of the MV of 'April Snow' said on the interview with YTN.
- according to the director when the filming is nearing the end, the manager of yong joon passed a question for the staff. they were asked to choose from 4 kinds of gifts.
1. playstation
2. filming jacket
3. portable game unit
4. none of the above but should indicate other option.
- the price is 300,000 won each, for 50 staff so a total of 15,000,000 won
- some of the staff doesn't want to be interviewed to confirm whether they really received a gift from yong joon
- they found a staff who actually confirmed that he was given digital camera by yong joon
- he even sent each one a card with his handwriting

So Ji Sub as Best Actor
i blogged yesterday about so ji sub....
it was his birthday yesterday but he went to Beijing to film a movie. he was supposed to come back to day to accept his award as Best Actor for the movie 'Rough Cut' given to him by the Film Critics' Society but he wasn't able to come due to the filming.
In his behalf, Mgr Yang accepted his trophy and bouquet.
this is the Best Actor trophy of Ji Sub.
hmm, nice finger nails Mr. Yang. ^^

The CF in this time is further more attracting attention as BYJ showed appearance of singing song for the first time in broadcasting. (We, BYJ family know that this is not an exactly a correct statement.) The CF was hot at the Taekwanryeong Dairy Farm in Pyeongchang, Kangwon Province in the middle third of the last month, and will be aired from coming 8.
BYJ showed his singing talent, that he had been hiding all the while, in the TV CF in this time. (BYJ) delivered beauty of Naturalism in a song, as he played a guitar and song "Natural story~ The Face Shop~', the Jingle of The Face Shopsm in a hut built in a green hill in the Taekwanryeong Dairy Farm to incorporate the nature of only The Face Shop. The CF has concept to emphasize Naturalism cosmetics met in over 7000 world-wide stores with main copy of "This song, having made you beautiful, will beautify the world", after BYJ sings the jingle.

The concept was singing a song while playing a piano as he slightly exposed underwear through fluttering shirts. If one thinks about present 'Yon-sama' BYJ, it was a very fresh period. The new CF will be aired from 8.

happy birthday, so ji sub!
yup, today, november 4 is so ji sub's birthday. ^^ but the birthday boy in not in korea to celebrate his birthday with his loved ones. he flew to Beijing yesterday to shoot a project in collaboration with some chinese film production. but it was reported that he will be back tomorrow, November 5, to received his Best Actor award for the movie 'Rough Cut' to be given by the Korean Film Critics' Society on it's 28th Korean Film Critics' Society Awards.

the new photos of yong joon for The Face Shop has been revealed and the korea media are reporting it. it was said that the new CF will be out on Nov 8. in the new CF yong joon will be singing and playing the guitar! ^^

I saw him at the famous restaurant that specializes in breakfast, Nomar’s,
when he was eating brunch alone.
I approached to talk to him and told him that I am his fan and asked him
whether I could take picture of him.
He refused my request repetitively by saying, “I’m sorry.”
I was a little embarrassed so I returned to my seat feeling a bit bad.
I called a waiter to ask to pay for my meal and I found out that BYJ already
had paid for it before he had left.
It was nearly $90.00 and that made me became his devoted fan.

yesterday because it was my mom’s birthday.
While at my mom’s store I saw BYJ’s postcard size picture.
He had autographed it and wrote my child’s name on it.. hahaha
Mom.. what’s this? My mom.. Oh.. BYJ came here the day before yesterday.
What? You should’ve called me. Hahaha
I asked him to autograph it for my grandson and he did it for me.
There were some Japanese near him and they didn’t know who he was.
Later, they realized that it was him and asked for his autograph, but he refused
saying that he was busy and had to leave right away.
He said that he would come back. I’ll call you when he comes back. Haha
I heard that he came with his mom and an actress and his mom was so pretty.

and then went to Wido. I saw BYJ there.]

He was seating right behind me eating and I didn’t realize that.
Later on, I saw someone who was looking at the ocean site and it looked like BYJ.
I wasn’t sure, but I was right.
He refused to take pictures, but he gave us one (suehan: the pictures that he carries)
and he wrote my children’s names and he autographed it.
It was fantastic. I’ve been a fan since he had made a debut.
We were on the same boat when we came to Gyukpo from Wido.
I experienced the seasickness, but the grilled salt water eel (suehan: The writer said
the name of fish is Anago in Japanese) was so delicious.
We couldn’t finish them because it was so spicy that even my children couldn’t eat it.
We brought the leftovers to the house so we could eat them. It was so delicious.

BYJ shares his aspirations after receiving the National Order of Cultural Merit (AREA Japan 3rd of Nov)

On the 18th of October, the Korean government awarded BYJ the national Order of Cultural Merit for his contribution to promoting Korean culture abroad. In response to the reporter’s questions, he shared his aspirations of the future.
After the decision to award BYJ with the Order of Cultural Merit, the intensity of his initial reaction came across:
“I intend to focus my future endeavors on my roles and duties as an actor. I’m very grateful and feel much honored to have received this award. However I think that the award should have been something for the distant future, instead of now. I will do my best to live up to this medal in the future.”
There were 25 recipients of the Korean national Order of Cultural Merit. Medals are classed into: Gold Crown, Silver Grown, Precious Crown, Jeweled Crown and Flower Crown. BYJ was awarded the Flower Crown. Up until now, there were only 4 actors who have received this award. Amongst this year’s recipients, BYJ was the youngest, with the rest all 50 and over. Therefore he is absolutely the youngest.
BYJ was awarded the honor as he has continuously devoted himself and his work to promote Korean culture to the world though dramas such as Winter Sonata.

Q: “It is not easy for you to shoulder the responsibilities that are outside of being an actor at a young age, what is your understanding of this? “
BYJ: “I’m still young, which has many drawbacks and I feel a great deal of responsibility. However I take it as a word of encouragement from everyone, “working harder in the future”. I believe that as an actor, a public figure, I need to further my thinking in terms of what I can achieve. As there are certain levels of expectation of me out there from many people, I feel this alone bears a great deal of responsibility.”
On the 18th of October, the ceremony was held at “Cheongju Arts Center” in Chungcheong which is situated in the center of South Korea. There were scenes where BYJ was being considerate by deferring to his seniors who received their awards first. He also considered the feelings of the others by declining to have a press conference.
On stage, when the medal was pinned to his chest by the minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, BYJ was blushing and appeared shy. 500 fans from Japan took over the entire second level, cheering him on and clapping. BYJ smiled bashfully and showed forth his thankfulness by waving.
His fans said “His great contribution to the exchange between Japan and South Korea, receiving the award goes without saying”. “This award is long overdue”. “He has achieved what the politicians of Japan and South Korea could not even achieve in 100 years.”
After broadcasting [Winter Sonata], Hallyu has swept across Japan over the last 5 years. With BYJ’s explosive popularity, his every word and deed could change the direction / movement of Hallyu. Hallyu has surely rooted in Japan and BYJ’s popularity continues unabated.
[Asian wave is a better fit than Korean wave]
No matter if it’s “Winter Sonata”, “First Love”, “Did we really love” or “Hotelier” where BYJ has devoted his performances, the outstanding works of South Korea were clearly reflected though these TV dramas, at the same time further strengthening Hallyu in Japan.
Given the high social status of film stars in Korea, critics were not kind to BYJ, who has only made limited films. However he who has opened the new Japanese and South Korean historical channels, is standing in the frontline of popular culture (or pop culture) and TV dramas.
What is more important is that for the past 5 years, BYJ has not disappointed his fans in his acting or his conduct.
Q: “It’s been 5 years since the hit TV drama of “Winter Sonata”. From the very start you stated that your wish is to advocate mutual exchanges within Asia, not only Hallyu,”
BYJ: “Personally, I don’t like the word of Hallyu. I would hope to use the phrase “Asian wave” widely in order to repl-ace Hallyu. We should not see Hallyu as a unilateral temporary cultural phenomenon which could extinguish. We need to take Asian culture to the next level, allowing mutual cooperation. I hope to see Asia as one cultural community, growing and prospering.”
Q: “What is the dream of taking Asia to the world stage?”
BYJ: “As an actor, I would like to create outstanding work. Actors, producers and the people, who are in the frontline of popular culture, need to consider what sort of production would overcome adversity and allow us to richen our outstanding cultures together. Then the end result of these rich outstanding cultures of Asia would be a worthy opponent to Hollywood or European culture in order for us to advance in the world market.”
Q: “Do you have something in mind that you really hope to achieve, now this award has given you the opportunity to do so?”
BYJ: “I would like to introduce more Korean histories and traditional culture. Many people visited South Korea after watching my work. Simultaneously I would like to share the excellence of Korean tradition and its culture to the Japanese people. By all means also provide a chance to introduce Japanese traditions and culture to the Korean people. I will try my best to serve as a bridge to enliven the cultural exchange between both countries.”
[The travel guide book put him on his mettle]
BYJ is currently writing a travel book introducing the “Beauty of Korea”. He intends to travel across South Korea with his camera, compiling the sections repeatly as he goes. There will be 2 volumes in the travel guide book complimenting a photo album and a self written guide book. BYJ is at a preparatory stage. This summer he collected all the suggestions and tentative plans that were recommended by his families. “The beautiful scenery in Korea that you know”. “You can tell me anything everything about Korea”. Here, one can see his intentions in promoting cultural exchanges mutually.
Q: “Which part have you concentrated on more while in the making of the travel guide book?”
BYJ: “I started this project by hoping to introduce and photograph all the beautiful sights that my homeland has to offer to the people aboard. It is now still in the planning stage. I have been to a few pl-aces to conduct some prep work with my staff. We would like to put our heart and soul into producing a good book after careful deliberation amidst many worries. Staffs facilitate the exchange of ideas and enthusiasm in the planning session of the discussions, including ideas and suggestions from the families. “
[Anticipation as an actor]
It is said that at the beginning of October, BYJ visited and stayed at the town of Hahoe in Andong, where the town preserved the housing architecture and town structure from the Joseon Dynasty.
Q: "Why rigidly adhering to history and traditions?"
BYJ: "The present has evolved from the past. Without the present, there won't be future. I need to keep that in mind continuously on the co-sharing approach to the outstanding cultures. If we could spread the network and connections, maintaining the mutual exchange, this would go a long way to promoting the Asian wave to the world."
Starting from 2010 for 3 years, BYJ was appointed as the promotional Ambassador of Korea Tourism. In recent years, tourism revenue in Korea is disproportionately low. The government is anticipating that Bae Yong Joon is the man to spearhead their new tourism campaign.
On the other hand, it was a matter of concern that BYJ will be restricted his acting as his work load increases as a public figure. For example, movie roles with artistic performances of adult scenes such as in “Untold Scandal” will not be suitable for an “Ambassador” figurehead. Trailing him everywhere he goes, his privacy is likely to be even more restricted than now.
Given that he is a person who would try to do his very best persistently, to complete what he ought to do. So don’t let any groundless fears get to you. But we hope to see more of his outstanding work as an actor. Fighting!
