In THIS post yesterday, I mentioned about Hyun Joong might be joining the cast of 'Athena'. Also in the same post, i posted in the evening that a staff of Taewon denied Hyun Joong's participation in the drama though his name was mentioned to be part of the drama.
Today, another news surfaced saying that if and when Hyun Joong confirmed his participation in the drama the writing team will create a role for him.

[JES Lee·Gyonnan] The high possibility of Kim Hyun Joong being a part of the TV drama ATHENA,
which is the most highly anticipated drama for the second half of this year,

The production company, Taewon Entertainment said, "If it's decided that Kim Hyun Joong joins the cast,
(we) will customize a role just for him",
and this demonstrates their positive attitude and hope towards Kim Hyun Joong joining the drama team.
Kim Hyun Joong too has expressed his wish to evolve from the previous Flower Boy image to a more masculine role.
Although both parties are keeping an open and positive mind towards this,
the main reason for not being able to formally seal the deal and sign the contract
is because of Kim Hyun Joong's existing exclusive contract with his agency.
Kim Hyun Joong's contract with his current agency will end on 8th June.
Kim Hyun Joong has not made any public announcement about whether he will stay on with DSP or will sign with a new agency.
Pertinent to this issue, Athena's production unit said, "Due to the fact that it's still unclear as to
which main party is in a position to confirm and sign the contract for Kim Hyun Joong's appearance (in the drama),
so we can only wait till Kim Hyun Joong's current exclusive contract runs out."
They also said, "Based on the current storyline and plot, there are no suitable roles for Kim Hyun Joong.
If Kim Hyun Joong's appearance is confirmed, the plan is to create a totally new character for him,
and it will be a substantial role"
and "In order to demonstrate Kim Hyun Joong's enthusiasm towards action-packed acting,
the role of a key personnel from the central intelligence bureau is most suitable."
However, it is also possible that Kim Hyun Joong will not appear in Athena.
A related personnel from Taewon Entertainment said, "Athena has to crank-in by mid June,
we cannot keep waiting for Kim Hyun Joong.
If we're unable to invite Kim Hyun Joong to join the drama team,
we're also discussing about selecting an alternative from idol groups of similar age,
in order to have a contingency plan for the drama team."
A spin-off from Iris, Athena is a much talked-about production with a sterling cast of heavyweight actors and actresses,
such as Jung Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, Su Ae, Lee Ji Ah, and others.
Jung Woo Sung will play a key personnel from the central intelligence unit, Cha Seung Won will appear as a terrorist.
The drama is expected to air on SBS TV at year-end.

Wowwww...even if it just a rumor at the moment..Leader is just super popular that the production of Athena is ready to create a "suitable and substantial role just for him if and when he decide to join this drama...whoops to Leader"...I will support him 501% in whatever he decide to do...fighting

Now I get it why there is KHJ resentment among the antis .That he is using the backdoor -to them he is a parachuter-in getting the roles in dramas .In short he gets to be casted via invitation sans audition compared to other actors .Oh well, can't blame PDs for knowing how to add value to their production number. Our guy surely help turn anything he touches into gold .

To be honest, I'm really not too excited about him being in this drama. As much as I want to see more of KHJ on TV, I love him more as a singer/dancer with his dongsaengs. I rather him concentrate on SS501 activities and new album. If he does decide to act in a drama, I want him to be in a lead role in another drama instead...anyhow, whatever he decides, I will definitely support him 501% either way.
AGRR..... How could DSP do this to him or any other members???.... Their future and career are in its hands. Until now, the contract hasn´t been renewed or confirmed yet? WTH?
I think he is mature enough to make decision for himself. I guess that he should have already sought advice from BYJ.

Want to see khj in a big hit, well-made drama as a lead role. He has enough ability to be a top actor.
KHJ doesn't have to be the lead star-big name stars do it all the time - cameo roles even walk in . I think KHJ has enough security and confidence he will be watched and will be loved in whatever role -and most of all if he likes to do it ,he will be happy and satisfied .It will not be work but pleasure .Most importantly we will all there for him!
Let us not bash DSP yet. Let us wait. We donot know what is happening behind the scene. It might be the members who are still reluctant to sign or DSP have not met their demands. SS501 have proven their worth after 5 years and have the right to have their demands now. At the end of the day both sides knows it is their livelihood and career that is at stake here.
If HJL will not get in this drama maybe it is not meant to be. We don't even know if he really wants to be in it in the first place. This is just hearsay.
