KimHyunJoongThailand way of welcoming SS501

Last Saturday, I mentioned HERE that KimHyunJoongThailand will be publishing an ad to welcome SS501 in Thailand. The said ad will be published from February 10-16 in Dara Daily Newspaper [but i think it comes out weekly] . So if you're in Thailand don't forget to grab a copy, k?

Below is how the ad looks like.

Btw, thanks so much to Mel aka BloomLion for sharing the above. I was talking to her since weekend getting updates. Despite being so busy with the preparations she's very accommodating answering my queries.

When I learned about this ad that they made I was really amazed by their support and dedication not only to Kim Hyun Joong but SS501.

As we all know, putting up an ad is not cheap especially if the ad will be put up by a fanclub with only a small number. The ad that KimHyunJoong Thailand made for the boys is in full page, glossy and for 6 days. So we're talking about huge amount of money here. In order to support this, they've come up with ideas to gather money and the ladies of KHJThailand really worked hard for this.

Persona in Bangkok is coming in a few days. There was only little marketing campaign that Do, Mays and DSP did in order to promote this concert of SS501 compared to what other K-pop idol's promoters and management company did. As of this writing, there are still tickets unsold, with the boys arrival on the 11th of February and this ad that KHJThailand is publishing the gals are hoping that it can help promote the concert. [I'm certain it will]

Btw, according to Mel, SS501 is the First Korean Boyband to receive this GREAT support from Fans by publishing a full page welcome ad for them in Thailand.

So, to KimHyunJoongThailand, two thumbs up for you guys!

Oh, for those going to Bangkok look for Kimhyunjoongthailand banners in Impact Arena as well. There are 3 of them. The fanclub will also be giving out freebies to fans infront of Impact Arena. So please visit their booth and take picture with Leader standee.

And this is from Mel, "We hope you will have a blast of time in Bangkok Persona Concert and have a wonderful traveling experience in the Land of Smile ^_^. "

Annyeong Mel,

Thanks for the updates from Kim Hyun Joong Thailand. I was worried that there wasn't any activities for the group's visit. I know it is a Thai affair but please put up a contribution box at the Impact Arena for us non Thai fans to contribute and share your great project to welcome Kim Hyun Joong and his dongsaengs to Thailand.

What I know about advertising in color full page in S'pore's The Straits Times will at least cost S$10,000. So for 6 days it will be S$60,000! That's the minimum guage.

Hi Anonymous 1:29.

The Dara Daily Newspaper is a weekly newspaper so i guess the rate is not daily. But yeah it is still a big amount of money when putting up an ad.

Sorry to say this but I would said they did "nothing" at all. What actually did they do to promote this. It seems all the promotion has been done by the fans.

Way to go and thumbs up to the fans.

wow wow!! But I wished that the Thai TS have done something as well. such as combining efforts with KHJThailand, so to other boys..it doesnt look so bad to them (sorry) like they are being popular because of leader.

am i thinking too much? but anyway neat work done by KHJThai!

English version of Spring Basic house is up!

Dear Anonymous @ 9:04 PM,

To my limited knowledge, since I only live in Bangkok for about 9 months. I don't think there are any sky train / MRT train that go out that far to Impact Muang Tong Tani (Concert Hall). The Hall is not even in Bangkok, it's in a neighboring province. But on their website, they said that you can get off Mo-Chit BTS station, then they will provide a shuttle to the venue every 30 minutes. (or you can try getting a taxi)

Here is the link to their FAQ page: http://www.impact.co.th/faq.php#faq5

To be sure you might want to call them, here's the link to their contact page: http://www.impact.co.th/contact.php

When calling if you are in Bangkok just dial 0-2833-4455, 66 is the country code.

By the way if you are taking BTS, some stations only have ticketing machines that will only take coins. You have to make changes with the official people behind the glass windows. Sometime there are long lines for that, so you might want to have coins ready.

Here's the link to BTS: http://www.bts.co.th/en/index.asp

MRT has newer ticketing machines, so they are easier to buy tickets.

In case you also want info for MRT, here is the link: http://www.bangkokmetro.co.th/index.aspx?Lang=En

Hope that help.

Good Luck,
Y

Y, thanks a lot for the instructions. It'll be a big help.

Dear Liezle,

In case this might help.

MRT - subway, underground
BTS - sky train

I think Silom station is the closest MRT station to the Dusit Thani. Sala Daeng is the closet BTS station to the hotel. Mo Chit station is the closest BTS station mentioned on Impact's website. They didn't mention on their website whether they have a shuttle from an MRT station, can call and ask.

Here's the map of both MRT and BTS route. http://www.bangkokmetro.co.th/web/imgcontent/Image/091119-Routemap-in.jpg

By the way, Siam Paragon Mall/Paragon Park (for the fan meeting) is BTS Siam Station, in case anyone want to know. Get off the train follow the sign for Siam Paragon or Siam Center to get off the right exit. Have fun.

Oh geez, I got confused again... argh that's how the boys are doing to me as the day gets nearer. thanks Y. yeah Silom is near Dusit.

Anyway, I made a shout out on the sidebar for anyone needing help regarding transpo.

Huge thanks again Y!

not to offend our Thai friends,

but based on my experience last Dec, when I took a cab from Mo Chit Stn to Impact Arena, it cost me about 140Baht by meter. Do remember that some cab drivers don't really like to switch on their meters and would want to charge tourists a flat price between 200 to 400 baht. try to come to an agreement before continuing on your journey.

Once, I was outside Grand Palace (an attraction) and when I got onto a cab, I asked for meter. Yes, he switched it on. But on the road, he told me there's heavy traffic and he would not be making $ if he goes by the meter. so he switched off the meter! :O and he charged me a flat rate of 300baht just to go to Siam Paragon :( on our way there, theres no traffic jams at all.. sigh.

anyway, for those who are going for the concert, do be careful because we don't speak their language. well, most Thai people are very friendly and accomodating, but don't allow these really small minority ruin your trip there! Keep safe, enjoy!

crazynoona,

I'm sorry you got cheated. I'm Thai and I'm not offended at all. I actually agree with you. By law, all taxis are supposed to take all customers and use meter, but many don't follow the law and there are no one to enforce it. Not to say that all taxi drivers are like that, but those who are breaking the law sure give everyone else a bad name.

I don't take taxi that often myself since I still don't know my way around that well yet. I don't know if they are actually taking the long way round. Or taking me someplace else. It's especially bad if you can't speak the language and there are so many small streets and shortcuts, it can be scary. I feel bad for those nice and honest taxi drivers.

So for those of you who are going to take a taxi, don't go by yourself. Go in groups. If possible just take the BTS or MRT. When walking around on the street, careful of your purses/bags and don't forget to bargain. Cut the price at least in half. When they see foreigner, they tend to mark up the price even more.

Not to scare you guys, like crazynoona said most Thai people are very friendly and accommodating.

liezle,

You're welcome. Glad I can help. I've been reading your blog everyday and I feel bad that I can only take and take and cannot give anything back. Your blog has been very helpful and entertaining. Thanks for blogging.

If I can help with anything else, please let me know.

Hi Liezle,

Have you arrived in Bangkok yet? Are you also staying at Dusit Thani? How long are you staying?

I was very excited for the concert. I had plan to go with my friend to the concert, but my friend just told me that she can't go anymore (personal emergency) and she gave me her ticket to find someone else to go with me. I have been calling up people, but it's too short a notice and they already have other plan. So now I'm in a scrambling mode to find someone to go with me. I hope I can still go to the concert :(

Enjoy your stay in Bangkok. I emailed you my contact info if you need any help while your are in Bangkok. Don't know if I could be of much help though. ^_^
