I think that this news is the biggest news in SS501 community today. ^^
I believe that SS502 name is just temporary until DSP finds a name that will suit the 7 member boy band. Yes it's a 7-member group from what I read in other articles but this article from AKP didn't mention 7-member group. Anyway, using the name SS502 for now surely made a noise in K-Pop.

DSP Media Entertainment is preparing to debut a new boy group that industry representatives have nicknamed “SS502.” The company opened an audition earlier, and the final members were chosen on January 7th.
The company created the group with the intention to continue the success of their representative boy group, SS501. Although their debut date hasn’t been revealed yet, each of the members are undergoing strict training in a variety of genres.
In an interview with Newsen, DSP Media revealed, “About five members have joined the group. We’ll be releasing details on the confirmed members by the end of this month. We’ve brought in our composers to change it up musically, and our goal is to debut them within the first half of this year.”

I think you all need to understand it is a NICKNAME because they want to be successful like ss501. It is a compliment in my eyes.
SS502...yeah it's an annoying nickname, but i don't hate DSP, i hate the ' industry representatives ' idea of that ANNOYING nickname.
DSP is not the ones calling them SS502, industry representives are the ones giving them this nickname. So relax, when they debut they will have their own name.
Probably I'm just level headed that is why I didn't get mad at this news. I was like 'what the...?' when I first read it but then come to think of it, DSP knows what will happen when they use the SS502 for sure they don't want their new boy group to be branded as copycat.
Also, there's no one who's going to replace SS501. SS501 is already an icon. It has it's own place in the K-Pop world.
So relax don't let this news add wrinkles in your pretty face.
No matter what, be it SS502, 503 or 5infinity, no one can substitute SS501... We dun only like SS501, it's hyun joong, young saeng, jung min and hyung jun...
Btw, I dun think DSP would want to be a ridicule...

there will ONLY be one SS501, and i think DSP is pretty commercialize to wanna churn out another boyband soon and hope they'll be as famous asap? our boys hv everything, not just the looks. its not so easy to be like them, thats what make them stand out among all the other boybands.
I agree, too much burden if they really use the name ss502. Besides that, it's way too annoying to hear. And really pointless.
But now I wonder, if ss501 do group activities, will they still be under dsp??
It's not the 1st april yet and they r already starting the stupid jokes!!! Wht in the world is SS502?? The new SS501??!! DSP just lost one of its most money making band in kpop industry and using that name SS502 wants to capture the attention of SS501 fans! It's just a way of selling the image of the new band!! >.<

actually, i find this tactic of DSP cheap but smart and funny
to the new group under DSP - welcome - whoever you maybe and whatever group name you'll have but bear in mind that this newbie will ALWAYS be viewed as group to that'll save the faces of DSP mgt because of unwise mgt decision (A)
What? SS502!!! Nothing can replace SS501 in my heart. When all the bands out there in the world can't overtake importance of SS501 in my heart, what makes DSP thinks that SS502 can? Its impossible to recreate a band!
I don't know why....but I just have SS501 in my heart. not any other boy band in the world till now ...even the boy band from my country. They are too special for me....I'm sorry....not ss502, ss503 and what ever name dsp want for their new boy band....I don't care......
