Drama Marathon

For the past 2 weeks, i've re-watched again 'Boys Over Flowers' [but mostly watched only the parts of Ji Hoo] then followed by 'We Got Married' [of course only the JoongBo cuts]. This weekend, since it's a long weekend for us, i was planning on catching up 'A Man's Story'. But I've to postpone watching it to next week since I was introduced to 'One Liter of Tears'. A Japanese drama in 2005 based on the true story of a teenager who was diagnosed with an incurable degenerative disease at 15, but was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25.

It was such a tearjerker.

Ryo Nishikido as Haruto Aso and
Erika Sawajiri as Aya Ikeuchi

in 'One Liter of Tears'.

The drama is an adaptation from the diary of Aya Kito. She proved her courage and positive attitude while battling with a disease which up until now is incurable.

The screenplay of the drama was taken from the actual text of the book that was published a year after Aya's death with the addition of fictional character, such as the character of Haruto Aso, who is a schoolmate of Aya who provided her with strength.

Aya Kito was played by Erika Sawajiri, Japanese actress, model, and musician. While the role of Haruto Aso was portrayed by Ryo Nishikido, 24, an actor, singer and composer. [you can read more about Ryo here]

Ryo Nishikido

Erika played her role well, but I was drawn to Ryo's acting. I never knew him until I saw him here in this drama and searched him on YouTube [this one is Yamapi and Ryo NEWS, i know Yamapi but not Ryo]. This guy can cry! Though I didn't find him quite good looking at the beginning of the drama, as the drama progresses he's become more attractive.

You may want to give 'One Liter of Tears' a try. Click HERE to watch the eleven episodes in parts. But make sure you'll have your box of Kleenex with you.

After this post I'll give 'Last Friend' a try. It is another drama of Ryo Nishikido which was aired last April 2008 in Fuji TV where in number 1 on Fuji's top 50 list from June 16 till June 29 of 2008. In this drama, Ryo Nishikido won three Best Supporting Male Actor awards in three award giving bodies.

I love the concept of 'Last Friends' poster.

You may check 'Last Friends' here.

And listen to the theme song of 'Last Friends' entitled 'Prisoner of Love' by Utada Hikaru

Hello Anonymous. ^^

I started watching episode 1 last night and I'm liking it so far. It's a different Ryo Nishikido here. From a cool student/doctor in 'One Liter of Tears', here in 'Last Friends' he plays a role of a person with multiple personality. He's already good in episode 1, can't wait to see him in the next episodes.

hello khad and thanks for dropping by.

i'm amaze with the strength of people with incurable disease. they're an inspiration and there are so many things to learn from them. likewise, hats off to all those people taking care of them. their patience, understanding and dedication are just unbelievable. without them those who are suffering may have given up early.

Hi Liezle!

One litre of Tears was sooo good but sooo sad :( I think I cried more than one litre of tears. Is 'Last Friends' good? I I haven't watch that one yet. I like watching J-dramas with Yamapi. I like Kurosagi with Yamapi! :)
