Singer Kim Hyun Joong has climbed to the #2 spot on the Oricon Weekly chart.

According to the Oricon Chart data released on the 31st, Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese debut single “Kiss Kiss / Lucky Guy” sold over 100,000 copies in the first week.

Kim Hyun Joong came second to AKB48‘s popular sister group SKE48 who came in at #1.

This is the first time in 9 months that an overseas solo artist has accomplished this feat in Japan after Jang Geun Suk accomplished this with the release of his debut single “Let Me Cry” last year. Additionally, this is also the first time Kim Hyung Joong has placed on the Oricon in 3 years and 7 months after securing the #4 spot back in June of 2008 with”Lucky Days” as a member of SS501.

The singer will be focusing on his Japanese promotions for the time being, and he will be holding a live performance at the Yokohama Arena on February 5th in front of 20,000 fans.

Congratulations to Kim Hyun Joong!

This is big for foreigner artist debut!
no.2 in Oricon this time is fine because SKE48 is the second most popular girl group in Japan right now(and they got 30-48 members *o*)

usually 100,000 is good enough to be no.1 in Oricon.

Congrats Hyun Joong !

I think Hyun Joong should stay in JP longer to promote "Kiss Kiss" more.
It's better if he performs some weeks in TV shows.

So well deserved. Congrats to our baby!!! I hope success follows HyunJoong wherever he goes.

Congrats to our 4D alien on reaching another splendid milestone! He so deserves this for all his tireless efforts and perseverance! However rather curious though about this, anybody knows, did JGS sell more albums there within one week last year? What's the total no of albums he had sold so far? I'm asking b'cuz a poster wrote that JGS sold more than our boy<< I guess what she was saying is that he was more successful? Well, whatever! As far as I'm concern, our beautiful HJL has been very impressive in his solo ventures, and for someone who has always been disparaged as being the least talented in his group~the 'worst' singer/actor~he definitely showed them what he got^^^ Go darling boy, go! We'll always be there for you!

@1:02 and 2:00 I
I agree with you two about anon @ 10:02.. Lol.

Hyun joong has swept Japan by a storm coz not only album sales were good.. He ranked 1,2 and 3 in ringtone downloads.. The first ever Korean solo artist and was no 2 in Japan billboard.. This means his music was popular among the general public too.. He was only beaten by one of the popular groups in Japan.. Btw lucky guy isn't out yet..XD
